A remarkable exhibition is currently being hosted by the Institut Francais in Cologne: Kaleidoscopes links artists from Europe and China. The remarkable aspect about this 'work in progress' is that all the artists regard 'progress' as a kind of conversational continuation of exchange. Therefore since their initial encounters in Shanghai each artist taking part in this wandering exhibition (Paris 2008, Cologne 2009, Liverpool 2010) continues to record cultural and human processes of rapprochement and for each new venue allows his/her work to shift, change and even at times absent itself.  An online blog ("Exhibitionwall") shares this process with the public at large.

Look who has arrived

Das gluehende Haus von Xu Zhifeng

One of the works in the exhibition has not yet been mentioned (Xu Zhifengs). But it was worth the wait. Last night Sabine, who has been helping looking after the show, kept talking about "Das gluehende Haus".
I suddenly realised what a beautiful word gluehen is, and how wonderful a title for the work.
In English a translation would be the glowing house.
Gluehen evokes so many feelings, warmth, soft lights, man glueht vor Freude (glow with joy), it means to send out light, it means enthusiasm, gluehen fuer (glow for) means to love.
So rather than showing a picture of a very nice computer on a very nice table in the entrance hall, three words Das gluehende Haus.
